at present

★  Reading: The Martian by Andy Weir. I really wasn't enjoying this very much at the start but the story has certainly picked up now that I'm over a third of the way in. It's got me hooked.

★  Watching: Game of Thrones and not a lot else really. I've not spent many evenings in recently so my tv/series watching has been slack.

★ Eating: Scrambled eggs & beans on toast. I have no idea why but I seem to craving this a lot at the moment. Oh yes, and scotch eggs.

★ Drinking: Mostly water, moderate amounts of white wine (summer's almost here!) and the tastiest beer I've had in aaaaages: Anchor Saison. At 7.2% though, I can only manage two of these bad boys in an evening.

★ Wearing: I dug out one of my all time favourite tees which I haven't worn in forever on account of it actually being a little (read: a lot) too small for me, but whatever, I'm wearing it now (that's it above) :)

★ Feeling: Happy – the sun is actually out and it's warm outside; sneezy – damn you hayfever!; achy but energised – I went to Zumba on Monday and then played badminton on Tuesday, both were very fun but having not been to the gym in 3 months my body got a bit of a shock; slightly stressed – only 10 weekends stand between now and the wedding and there's still quite a few bits to do; a little smug and very relieved – I went to the dentist for the first time in six years (v.bad Annie) but thankfully she said my teeth were looking good.

★ Looking forward to: Summer! (obvs), but, in the more immediate future: potential dress fitting on Saturday followed by a night out in Kings Cross and then it's Field Day on Sunday where I'll get to see the Pixies!!! Much excitement.

right now

★ Reading: Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. So far so good, I'm liking the concept a lot.

★ Watching: Community season 1 - I wasn't so sure about this initially but after the first 2 or 3 episodes it's just got better and better. I'm a big fan of all the movie references/homages throughout the series, some have been hilarious. It's sort of been filling the huge gaping hole which was left by parks and rec (obvs it's not as good but it sure makes me laugh). Also, we've been watching the new House of Cards (omg, that first episode!!!) and the great British sewing bee :)

★ Making: I've been fannying around on InDesign a lot lately (pic above) with the view to make our wedding invitations. The crochet blanket is coming along nicely and I'm in the midst of making a dress - it's too early to tell how well it'll turn out but I'm feeling positive.

Eating: The most amazing homemade pizza courtesy of my v.talented friend Alex who also made us a seriously lush coconut and blueberry jam cake (yeah, I know, amazing) on Saturday. My sister also gave us a batch of her white chocolate rocky road at the weekend so I've been completely spoilt!

★ Wearing: My more spring-like coat! There's been some really lovely days recently when not only has it not rained, it's also been sunny and relatively warm. I actually went out to get everyone's lunch yesterday without wearing my coat! C'mon Spring, don't be shy.

★ Feeling: Quite reflective. Packing up the flat has meant I've been thinking a lot about our time in Brixton and how bloody great it's been. Also, v.tired - between packing, socialising and going out a fair bit, I've run myself rather ragged and it doesn't look like I'll get much of a chill out until we make the move to my parents'. Ah well, no rest for the wicked I suppose.

Loving: The unexpected gift of a bunch of daffodils which are currently in full bloom.

around here lately

★ Reading: Journey into Fear by Eric Ambler. Not my usual genre but hey, who doesn't love a spy thriller set during WWII. I'm only a couple of chapters in but so far so good.

★ Watching: Catching Fire (at the IMAX - it was amazing); Star Trek Voyager (they still haven't got home yet), Elementary season 2, LOADS of Come Dine With Me and Fresh Meat season 3.

★ Making: Bunting for the wedding - miles and miles of it. Ok, I'm exaggerating, it's more like 30 metres but it feels like a lot more. I'm also ploughing on with my crochet blanket which I started many moons ago.

★ Eating: Soup (and lots of it) and mince pies. The latter because...

★ Feeling: V.festive all of a sudden - lights on Oxford street, purchasing people's Christmas presents and discussing what MItch and I will be cooking for xmas dinner probably had something to do it :)

★ Listening to: I know it's early buuuuut... today, at lunchtime whilst the office was empty, I put on Sufjan Steven's Christmas Unicorn. It's quite possibly the happiest song ever.

★ Wearing: Wedding dresses. On Saturday I went wedding dress shopping. I was extremely nervous but thanks to two of my lovely bridesmaids and the v.nice lady in the shop I had nothing to fret about. It was actually a lot of fun. DMs - it got cold over the last week or so so they've been busted out.

★ Looking forward to: As well as Christmas and a busy December, the coming week is also pretty exciting... pub quiz on Tuesday, more dress shopping on Thursday afternoon followed by a trip to Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland for sausage and gluhwein, celebrating a postponed Thanksgiving with my friend Alex on Friday (my first ever thanksgiving!) and lunch at my parents' house on Saturday.

★ Loving: Nights in with Mitch - watching tv in my pajamas, whilst crocheting and drinking camomile and spearmint tea - and plenty of cuddles with Moriarty obvs.

★ Reading: The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson. It's an interesting and rather wordy read. I've not read anything by a Swede before  but I'm liking it muchly.

★ Watching: Copious amounts of Star Trek Voyager. Mitch wanted to re-watch the entire series and I catch most episodes too - it's really not that bad and in fact, some of the episodes are pretty good as stand alone story concepts. Also, rather surprisingly, I've completely warmed to Captain Janeway. She is one cool spaceship captain. In between episodes of Voyager we've been getting our Breaking Bad fix (can't believe there's only 5 left!) and tuning into the new series of the Great British Bake Off, naturally.

★ Making: The baby quilt. The top is complete so now all I've got to do is make the backing, sandwich the layers, quilt it and bind the edges all before sunday. It's doable but I might not get much sleep! Also, excitingly, I've been making our 'save the dates' :) We're printing them through moo.com and they should arrive next week!

★ Baking: I've been baking brownies and Mitch made a pie. Normally we just take it in turns to do the cooking but it was fun working in the kitchen side by side, we should do it more often especially since Mitch gave the kitchen the most EPIC clean/clear out and now it looks amazing.

★ Drinking: Twinings green tea with jasmine pearls. I know it sounds poncey but they are the bomb.

★ Looking forward to: Another long weekend. I've got the day off tomorrow so Mitch and I are heading for the coast. There's also the baby's christening on sunday which should be fun.

★ Feeling: A little blue. I worry too much.

currently

reading: Caitlin Moran's How To Be a Woman - I'm only 90 pages in and I have laughed out loud several times. On public transport. And I don't care. It's that funny.

watching: MadMenMadMenMadMenMadMenMadMen, Game of Thrones, The Mimic, The Great British Sewing Bee.

eating: Avocado and haloumi sandwiches, lots of veggie based dinners and in particular broccoli - it's my go to vegetable at the moment. Oh and dairy milk (obvs).

★ drinking: After waaaaaay too much wine at the weekend I thought I should go on a bit of detox (until this weekend) so I've been drinking lots of water.

★ wearing: jumpers (including the above old gem from your eyes lie) over dresses, tights, DMs (it's not quite converse weather - made that mistake yesterday). Tbh that's been me for the last few months! I've given up the big coat and opted for my light weight one. Not quite ready to surrender the scarf though.

making: a dress! Although, I'm not counting my chickens just yet, working from a pattern is hard.

looking forward to: the weekend (duh)!
